It is worth mentioning that UK has its own method of education system. It has categorized the students as 'Tier 4 Child' and 'Tier 4 Adult'. Since wide range of students prefer studying in the United Kingdom a basic explanation is given below for our clients to get a quick idea of these terms - Tier-4 Child and Tier 4 Adult.

Brief Description of UK Student Categories

What is the Tier 4 child student category?

The Tier 4 (Child) category is for children coming to the UK to be educated between the ages of four and 17 years old. Children between four and 15 years old must be educated at independent fee-paying schools.

Tier 4 (Child) students cannot study at publicly funded schools. The only publicly funded education providers that can teach Tier 4 (Child) students are publicly funded further education college which are able to charge for international students.

If you are 16 or 17 years old and you want to study a course at or above National Qualifications Framework (NQF) level 3, you and your Tier 4 sponsor can agree whether you should apply to us under Tier 4 (Child) or Tier 4 (General). If you want to study at NQF level 2 or below, you must apply as a Tier 4 (Child) student.

You cannot be a Tier 4 (Child) student if you have any children who are living with you or for whom you are financially responsible. For detailed information please visit UKBA website.

What is the Tier 4 (General) student category?

The Tier 4 (General) category is for adult students who want to come to or remain in the UK for post-16 education.

If you are 16 or 17 years old and you want to study a course at or above National Qualfication Framework (NQF) level 3, you and your approved education provider (known as a 'Tier 4 sponsor') can agree whether you should apply under this category or under Tier 4 (Child). However, if you want to study English as a foreign language or any course with NQF Level 3, you must apply as a Tier 4 (General) student. For detailed information please visit UKBA website

Foundation Degrees

Foundation degrees are designed and delivered in partnership with employers and Higher Education providers (Universities and Colleges) to equip you with the knowledge, understanding and skills relevant to your employment and to further your career.

Integrating academic and work-based learning, Foundation degrees allow students who have completed Ordinary Level or Advanced Level examination, students already employed to undertake a programme of study in order to get ahead in their chosen career, whilst continuing to work. Some students may also undertake a Foundation degree when returning to work or changing their career.

A full time Foundation degree course will usually take one to two years to complete; a part-time Foundation degree course may take longer. After completing their Foundation degree some students go on to study for an Honours Degree (which usually takes one further year).

Undergraduate Studies

Two-year, Three-year or four-year programs at a college or university, undertaken after secondary school graduation and leading to the associate or bachelor's degree.

Postgraduate Studies

Postgraduate courses of study are generally for students who have already completed an undergraduate degree. A postgraduate course of study is a:

• masters degree, or
• doctoral degree.

MBA Programs

The Master of Business Administration (MBA) is a master's degree in business administration, which attracts people from a wide range of academic disciplines. The MBA designation originated in the United States, emerging from the late 19th century as the country industrialized and companies sought out scientific approaches to management. The core courses in the MBA program are designed to introduce students to the various areas of business such as accounting, marketing, human resources, operations management, etc. Students in some MBA programs have the option to select an area of concentration and focus approximately one-third of their studies in this area. There are hundreds of courses available, covering a diverse range of subject areas.

Courses are delivered by colleges and universities and have flexible teaching arrangements including work based, full or part-time basis.

Students are advised to follow the course prerequisite provided by relevant colleges or Universities under each course of studies. Following are the basic qualification criteria in general to carry out studies at overseas colleges or universities.

• ANY PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS (DIPLOMA , HNC, HND ETC.)
• WORK EXPERIENCE IF ANY
• SUFFICIENT FUNDS TO COVER STUDY AND MAINTENANCE COST FOR ONE YEAR

USA /CANADA  

• STUDENTS WILLING TO STUDY IN CANADA AND U.S.A. MAY REQUIRE TOEFL 675 OR IELTS 6.5 AND ABOVE.
• MINIMUM MAINTENANCE FUND US$15,000 PER YEAR PLUS STUDY COST COVERING THE TOTAL PERIOD OF TIME WITH SIX MONTHS MAINTAINED BANK BALANCE.

NEW ZEALAND 

• G.C.E. O/L WITH IELTS 5.5 OR ABOVE OR EQUIVALENT ENGLISH QUALIFICATION OR G.C.E. A/L WITH 'A' PASS IN ENGLISH
• ANY PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS (DIPLOMA , HNC, HND ETC.)
• WORK EXPERIENCE IF ANY
• SUFFICIENT FUNDS TO COVER STUDY AND MAINTENANCE COST

AUSTRALIA 

• STUDENTS WILLING TO STUDY IN AUSTRALIA WILL REQUIRE IELTS 6.5 OR ABOVE
• MINIMUM MAINTENANCE FUND AUS $ 18,000 PER YEAR PLUS STUDY COST COVERING THE TOTAL PERIOD OF TIME WITH SIX MONTHS MAINTAINED BANK BALANCE.

SINGAPORE /MALAYSIA  

• IELTS OR AN EQUIVALANT QUALIFICATION WOULD BE AN ADVANTAGE BUT NOT COMPULSARY

POSTGRADUATE /MBA STUDENTS
